[MISIA ]When did you start practicing yoga ?
[LATHAM THOMAS] I started practicing yoga as a sophomore in college, when I was 19.

[M]What called you to becoming a Doula ?

[LT]

I always had an interest in Women’s Health and really became fascinated after my own son’s birth. While I was at an Ashram I had a reading with a vedic astrologer and he told me that I was supposed to “help mother the mother” and even though I was already doing that work, with nutrition and yoga- the birth doula service was the perfect fit to round out my business. It is so fulfilling to support women as they transition into motherhood.

[M]You have a busy schedule that includes alot of travel, how do you stay grounded  and enjoy the benefits of being a wanderlust?

[LT] I am a Taurus- we are always grounded (smile). I am really calm. I use mantra, music, yogic breathing- this is all a part of my arsenal to stay grounded.

[M]What health & wellness advice do you have to offer to women of all ages ?

[LT]

Establish a glow time practice– whether it’s taking a bubble bath, getting your nails done, or reading a good book- everyone needs respite. Learn the power of saying NO. No is a complete sentence. When you set healthy boundaries you will feel better about yourself and your glow will shine through.
